Hindi Diwas (हिन्दी दिवस) is celebrated in
India to commemorate the date 14 September 1949 on which a compromise was reached—during the
drafting of the Constitution of India—on the languages that were to have official status in
the Republic of India. On this day, the Constituent Assembly of India decided by one vote
that Hindi would be the official language of India.
The day is also important as over 180 million
people around the world speak Hindi as their first language while 300 million people have
Hindi as their second.
To pay tribute and to mark the importance of
country’s most widely spoken language, Hindi, the celebrations were held in our school with
great pomp.
To begin the celebrations, the students sang
the Indian National Anthem enthusiastically. A number of programs were organised to mark
this special day. A motivational song “Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Data” was wonderfully sung by
our 8th graders. Importance of learning one’s mother tongue was very gracefully depicted by
a skit. A classical dance stole the limelight of the show. All the participants were looking
amazingly attractive in the colourful costumes.
All these performances tried to spread the
message “Hindi hamaari shaan hai; desh ka abhimaan hai” and emphasized that
we should be proud of our official language & should learn to speak in public domain without
any hesitation. Throughout the day, everyone made their sincere efforts to use Hindi as a
medium of conversation.
Language and culture of any country plays an
important role in making people-to connect with the people & helps in making a strong
nation. Thus, the celebration concluded with a positive note. This Diwas was celebrated with
zeal and zest and fulfilled the objective to propagate and spread the language.
